Fishing - Choy Lin Video!

FISHING are from that deep green inland sea just 38 nautical miles west of Sydney, known as The Blue Mountains. You can hear it in their music too. Deep, beat driven ocean-scapes that sweep you far away while keeping your feet firmly tapping something catchy. Choy Lin is Fishing's latest single taken from a 7" vinyl due for release in October. Which will be followed by the B-side White Sheet Beach. For now this is only the appetiser, the main course will be coming early next year in the form of an album.

Dream Boat - Sea to Sky MP3!

Dream Boat is the music of Page Campbell and Dan Donahue, two artists, musicians and longtime participators in the Athens, GA psychedelic underground.

Page (Hope For Agoldensummer, Creepy, Dark Meat) and Dan (Elephant 6 collaborator, who has contributed lyrics for Elf Power, Of Montreal, and most recently Bear in Heaven), have spent years writing and recording music together. With the help of engineer Suny Lyons, Dan and Page are excited to bring together a stellar psychedelic ensemble spanning two decades of Athens creative collectives.

The Fader debuted this wonderful preview track Sea to Sky. Thankfully, the band has made it available as a free download. We expect good things from their upcoming album Eclipsing - due out Dec 4th on Cloud Recordings. Eclipsing features John Fernandes (The Olivia Tremor Control/Circulatory System), Scott Spillane (Neutral Milk Hotel/The Gerbils), Andrew Reiger (Elf Power), Claire Campbell (Hope for Agoldensummer), Kris Deason (Dark Meat) and many other creative Athenian beings.

7 Silly Questions w/ PAWS!

When I told my friend Michael I was going to do a 7 Silly Questions with PAWS, his first reaction was "I want them to tour the US so bad." And he is not the only one. Ever since their promo company started sending out the preview tracks, I fell in love with their sound. More to the point, I fell in love with their highly intelligent and often poignant lyrics which set them far apart and far above most of their musical contemporaries.




PAWS hail from Glasgow, Scotland with members respectively from Tain (Highlands of Scotland), Edinburgh, and Glasgow. Their debut full-length Cokefloat! is due out Oct 9th on FatCat Records. Currently on a European tour with Japandroids, we are kind of shocked that they had time to answer our insipid interrogatives. But we are glad they did.

What's the most embarrassing band you loved as a kid?
Josh: Daphne and Celeste
Phillip: Spice Girls (but I'm not that embarrassed any more)
Matt: Deacon Blue

What is the first record you bought?
Josh: Jimi Hendrix (Best of)
Phillip: "Spice" by Spice Girls

Unicorns, because they are literally the Scottish National Animal...wikipedia that shit if you don't believe.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you on the road? 
Phil popped an ollie over Brian Japandroid in Switzerland at the start of the tour...

Who has the worst van etiquette?
Phillip and Josh because they can't drive....

Who is in heavy rotation on your iPod?
Japandroids.

What is the worst fight over nothing that you got into with each other after being road weary and exhausted?
The only fight we have ever had on the road happened a couple of days ago in Rotterdam after the show. Waaaaayyyyyy toooo mucccchhhhhh whiskeyyyyy.

ESP - 627 Video!

ESP is a new Los Angeles-based trio whose primary interest is, as their name implies, Extra Sensory Perception. The group explores this phenomena through their own synesthetic, synth-laden dreamscapes which literally overflow with hypercolored visuals. This is ESP, the sights, sounds and sensory overload of the West Coast cosmos. Their self-titled debut EP came out last month and it's phenomenal. Enjoy!

Sun Airway - Close Video!

Ewan MacLeod directed video for Sun Airway's "Close" from their upcoming album Soft Fall (out Oct 2nd, Dead Oceans). The video was shot in the furthest southern wilds of Australia and is based on the idea of a "soft fall." According to MacLeod, "it's kind of a hallucinogenic love story or perhaps it's the story of what happens after two lovers drown."
